Eureka!! Het vergde wel even wat detective work, maar ik wist, dat je dicht bij Scranton woont en toen vond ik het volgende:
Jermyn, Pennsylvania,:
Birthplace of First Aid
Dr. Martin J. Shields, the father of the first aid movement, came to Jermyn in 1889. With the belief that many serious accidents often bringing fatal results could be avoided through "prompt and intelligent first aid", Dr. Shields began training a group of 25 miners in his "first-aid-to-injured" class.
In 1910 he joined the American Red Cross to assist in industrial first aid training, based on his work with the miners in Jermyn. Through a donation of railroad cars from the Pullman company, a traveling program was established for railroad workers as well.
In 1943, a memorial was dedicated to Dr. Shields and his original First Aid class.
Leuke trivia, PeeJay! Nu ben ik benieuwd welk restaurant dat is
