I would say, go to the US and your English will be better after a couple of days. Work in the US for a couple of months and you'll be amazed. The only way to learn English well is to use it. I'm not sure what your situation is at the moment, but at least you're enthousiastic about the US, so that's a good start.
Another way is to start writing in English. I would be happy with a new reporter on my website.
It's fun and a good way to practice as well.
