Treinreis Vancouver - Seattle: Alleen I-94 nodig of toch ook eSta raadzaam ?

Beste forumleden, mijn speurtochten op dit forum hebben nog niet geleid naar een duidelijk antwoord op de volgende vraag:
Eind april van dit jaar vlieg ik met vrienden naar Vancouver Canada, om een paar dagen later met de trein naar Seattle door te reizen en daar dus de Canada/ USA border over te gaan. Moet bij de grensovergang per trein alleen een I-94 geregeld worden, of is het aan kunnen tonen van een eSta met status "Approved" toch nodig c.q. handig om erbij te hebben, omdat het wellicht de procedure zou kunnen versnellen ? Wie heeft ervaringen wat dit betreft ?

Je komt over land de US binnen dus dat betekent dat een I-94 ingevuld moet worden.

Vlieg je ook weer terug vanuit Canada? Dan heb je geen ESTA nodig.

We vliegen niet terug vanuit Canada.Vanuit Seattle per camper richting het zuiden.
Uiteindelijk de terugvlucht vanaf Los Angeles. Betekent dit dat de eSta dan toch nodig is ?

Dan lever je je I-94 in op het vliegveld als je terugvliegt. Wel goed bewaren en niet vergeten in te leveren als je er niet naar gevraagd wordt!

Vriend van mij heeft deze Form ooit een keer niet ingeleverd omdat er niet naar gevraagd werd en die had daarna behoorlijk wat problemen om binnen te komen. Uiteindelijk heeft hij echt kunnen bewijzen het land verlaten te hebben, maar dat was niet eenvoudig.

Ik pleit voor bronvermelding, je gaat met een groep en ongetwijfeld komen meerdere mensen met weer een ander verhaal.

Over die laatste opmerking van Terpies zie de faq behorende bij de I94. Sinds 2017 is er meer online en electronisch geregeld maar toch wordt het volgende alsnog vermeld op de website.

If I apply and pay for an I-94 online, do I have to appear at the port of entry?
Yes. You will still need to appear at the port of entry to complete the process and receive your paper form. You will only receive a provisional I-94 from the online application. Paying online helps expedite the process at the port of entry.

What happens if I do not appear at a port of entry within seven days?
If you do not appear at the border within seven days, your provisional I-94 will expire, and you will be required to reapply and pay the fee again. There are no refunds if the I-94 is not issued within the seven day period.

What do I need to do if my departure information is incorrect or inaccurate?
CBP tracks departures in a variety of manners, but not all departures are available on the website. If you are departing by air or sea, your departure is recorded electronically.
