Hi allemaal,

Normaal vlieg ik altijd rechtstreeks, maar nu aan het oriënteren voor een indirecte vlucht van Amsterdam naar Cleveland, OH in november met Delta. Graag advies over de overstaptijden.

Is dit een beetje ok, indien (te) lang: is Detroit een beetje een leuk vliegveld om een paar uur door te brengen? Heb me twee maanden geleden op EWR ontzettend lopen vervelen (transfer was veel eerder dan de vlucht).

Mijn dank is zoals gewoonlijk groot!

huh premium select nieuw dinkie van delta? Zeker op de terugweg wel bagger overstap. 3.33 lijkt mij lang. Daarvan zit je vermoedelijk minstens 2,5 uur duimen te draaien. Als je op de terug weg voor delta comfort kiest heb je een overstap van een uur. Maar geen idee of premium select het het waard is m daar op te wachten.

DTW is mijn nieuwe favoriete vliegveld!
Mijn laatste vlucht vorige maand via DTW waren zowel op de heen- als de terugweg de overstaptijd erg krap (minder dan 60 min) en beide keren met gemak gehaald. De APC's gaan heel snel en moest eigenlijk het langste wachten op mijn koffers.

Heb ook langere overstaptijden gehad en heb me prima vermaakt op dit ruime en lichte vliegveld. Genoeg leuke plekjes om te zitten. Leuke restaurants en bars en groot genoeg om te kunnen wandelen.
Er rijd ook een shuttle die je van de ene kant naar de andere kant kan transporteren mocht je toevallig korte overstap hebben en aankomt bij de ene kant en vertrekt vanaf de andere. (op terugweg natuurlijk)

Beide connecties zijn veel langer dan noodzakelijk. Op de heenweg heb je aan ca 90 minuten meer dan genoeg, op de terugweg heb je alleen de tijd nodig om naar je nieuwe gate te lopen.

Helaas biedt premium select geen toegang tot de Sky club (lounge van Delta). Maar mocht je een Amex platinum (geen Flying blue!) hebben dan kun je wel kostenloos de Sky club in (gasten zonder eigen kaart $29) en kun je die drie uur op de terugweg in ieder geval daar doorbrengen. Voor $59 per persoon kun je ook een single-visit pass kopen.

Ben wel benieuwd wat je er van vindt! Heb nog niet in die nieuwe A350 gezeten, maar wel een beetje de prijzen gevolgd voor Premium Select en ik vind het vaak erg duur en het verschil met restricted Delta One fares te klein. Wat betaal je voor deze route? Edit: ik zie het al, EUR 1028, dat valt best wel mee.. Ben benieuwd naar je ervaringen!

Dank allemaal!! Hmmmm dus toch aan de lange kant, daar was ik al bang voor...

@roelb ja, Premium Select komt nu uit op 2058 voor twee personen, ook gekeken naar Comfort+ zoals voorgesteld door babarage met in beide richtingen zo'n anderhalf uur overstaptijd. Dan zit je op 1953,50 voor 2 p, maar exclusief de 2e koffer die er bij Premium Select al wel bij inbegrepen zit. Als je dat erbij optelt (I know, luxeprobleem :D) kom je uit op 270 USD (x 2) erbij, totaal dus zo'n 440 eu duurder (voor 2 personen) dan PS... Al zou je dat alleen doen voor de terugweg, alsnog 220 euro. Lastig.

Overigens wordt dit dan de eerste keer met Delta, voorheen altijd KLM en laatste keer United. Kijk ernaar uit, eerst maar even de DV uitslag afwachten en daarna boeken (want you never know...) Maar ik ben benieuwd!

Premium select is wel echt iets anders dan economy comfort! Ik heb de afgelopen maanden regelmatig prijzen van zo'n 1500 euro retour gezien, terwijl dan delta one (met restricties) rond de 2000 euro was. Dan is de keuze lastiger. Maar in dit geval heb je volgens een goede deal. Retour CLE is sowieso niet een route met veel concurrentie en dus niet met hele lage prijzen.

En het voordeel is dat je op de domestic vluchten in First zit, voorin dus, in de "business class" cabin.

Oké, het gaat hem worden, alleen zit ik met een probleem. Ben nog even afhankelijk van een aantal kleine zaken voor ik kan gaan boeken maar zie nu dat de prijs voor 2 personen is gestegen van 2063 naar 2313. Zou deze nog omlaag gaan? Mijn instinct zegt van wel, maar misschien heeft iemand meer ervaring/kennis :D

Ik denk het niet. Er is geen onderscheid in fare classes in premium select (het is altijd W en F in domestic), dus er zal geen inventory bijkomen. Ik denk simpelweg dat de uiterste issue date van de vorige fare rule afgelopen is. Het is ook verstandig om altijd de fare rules te lezen als je een tarief ziet waar je interesse in hebt maar nog niet direct kunt boeken. Dan weet je precies waar je aan toe bent qua uiterste boekingsdatum en andere restricties.

Hmmm balen, toen ik hem begon te 'volgen' bij Google Flights was-ie 2308 (31 dagen geleden), zakte toen naar 2059, bleef daar steady op staan en nu weer 2313 sinds twee dagen.

En wat is de fare base en wat staat er in over de uiterste issue date voor tickets op basis van die fare base?

Kun jij op delta.com zien door op de link "changeable/non-refundable" te klikken en dan "Full fare rules".

De belangrijkste categorien zijn "Sales restrictions" en de "Seasonality".

Bij sales restrictions zie je geen restricties staan voor wat betreft de datum waarop het ticket uiterlijk verkocht mag worden. Deze fare rule heeft dus geen "einddatum".

Wel zie je dat hij maar op specifieke dagen geldig is:
SEASONALITY
FROM EUROPE - PERMITTED 31DEC THROUGH 20APR OR 29OCT THROUGH 13DEC FOR EACH TRANSATLANTIC SECTOR. TO EUROPE - PERMITTED 09JAN THROUGH 20APR OR 30OCT THROUGH 31DEC FOR EACH TRANSATLANTIC SECTOR.
Boek je dus voor een andere datum dan de genoemde dan krijg je te maken met een andere fare rule en dus mogelijk andere tarieven. Maar jij zit ergens in november, dus je valt ruim binnen het 30/10-31/12 tijdvak.

Ook belangrijk:
ADVANCE RESERVATIONS AND TICKETING
RESERVATIONS FOR ALL SECTORS AND TICKETING ARE REQUIRED AT LEAST 45 DAYS BEFORE DEPARTURE.
Dus wacht niet langer dan 45 dagen voor vertrek. Daarna zul je niet meer onder deze fare rule kunnen boeken. De fare rule die boekingen toe laat minder dan 45 dagen vooraf zal vermoedelijk hogere tarieven kennen. Eventueel kun je met tools zoals expertflyer gaan kijken welke fare rule dat dan is en wat daar in staat. Ook kun je, als je dit via een travel agent boekt, even vragen of zij kunnen kijken. Ze kunnen je dan zelfs vertellen wat het tarief zal zijn als je onder die andere fare rule boekt. Je vertrekdatum was 17/11. Dus 45 dagen daarvan betekent dat je tot 2 oktober de tijd hebt.

Is dat dezelfde route? Ik zie hem ook voor EUR 1156.13 pp.

Overigens zie ik wel wat het verschil is. Ik dacht dat er maar een fare code was voor PE bij Delta, maar dat zijn er inmidels twee. Zowel A als G. En A is duurder dan G. Er is op de heenvlucht simpelweg geen availability meer in G, en daardoor ga je door naar A, wat 135 euro toevoegt aan de prijs. Je zou kunnen zoeken naar een vlucht waar nog wel G op beschikbaar is (andere dag of route).

Grappig. Als ik de heenreis als twee losse segmenten prijs dan is er plots wel G beschikbaar op de DL5044:

Ik vraag me alleen af of dit boekbaar is. Ik krijg het niet samengesteld. Wellicht dat het bij Expedia of een andere OTA uiteindelijk ook mis gaat.

Maar goed, kort gezegd loop je dus wel het risico dat op de terugweg er op enig moment ook geen stoelen meer in G beschikbaar zijn en je doorvalt naar A. Dan wordt ook de terugweg nog EUR 135 duurder. Aan de andere kant is er ook de kans dat er stoelen in G worden toegevoegd op de heenreis en het weer EUR 135 goedkoper wordt.

Ik zou zeggen: snel boeken! Je kunt DL altijd bellen voor een boeking ipv het online doen, daar rekenen ze niets extra voor. Wel even naar Atlanta bellen (het amerikaanse 0800 nummer), niet naar het 020 nummer in Nederland. In dat laatste geval kom je namelijk bij KLM uit. Kan ook goed gaan hoor, maar het is wel weer een extra stap er tussen en zij kunnen een stuk minder dan een DL medewerker.

Als ik hem iig in het systeem van Delta probeer samen te stellen krijg ik een foutmelding als ik G probeer voor beide legs in dat segment op de heenweg. In A op de heenweg gaat het wel goed. Het is ook een melding die ik nog nooit heb gezien op delta.com.

In de GDS krijg ik toch perfect de prijs van 1031 EUR per persoon uit het systeem hoor. Geen idee waarom de website van Delta dit niet weergeeft.
Waarschijnlijk proberen ze wat "met je voeten te rammelen"...

Dank aan beiden! Het was eergisteren even niet gelukt door wat andere dingen die tussendoor kwamen, maar ik ben as we speak bezig met het boeken. Weliswaar via Delta op Twitter, want zij bieden nu:

Per persoon: $1212.11
Totaal: $2424.22

Dus zo'n 2086 euro. Weer n paar dollar goedkoper dan maandag en alsnog een flink verschil met de website van Delta (2312 euro op moment van schrijven). Heel raar, maar gelukkig lijkt het op deze manier prima opgelost. Kleine moeite om zoiets via social media te vragen en het scheelt toch ruim 200 euro.

En niet vergeten om je mijlen en MQM's te crediten! Skymiles levert met vluchten van en naar de US al snel meer op dan Flying Blue, maar goed, als je als FB spaart is dat natuurlijk het logische programma om naar te crediten.
