STAGE 4 WATER RESTRICTIONS BEGIN AUG. 31

Grand Canyon National Park will implement Stage 4 water restrictions on the South Rim at noon Aug. 31 following significant flash flooding in Bright Angel Canyon on Aug. 29.

Flooding damaged the Transcanyon Waterline, leaving the park with limited water reserves.

Beginning Aug. 31:
• Park concession overnight accommodations will close. Tusayan hotels are not affected.
• South Rim campgrounds will be dry camping only.
• Wood and charcoal fires are prohibited.
• The park remains open for day use, with some operations potentially operating reduced hours.
Visitors and residents are asked to conserve water as the park assesses flood damage and works to stabilize the water system.

Ik zag het hier nog niet vermeld staan, kreeg deze mail ivm onze reservering in Maswik op 30 september as:

Dear cvr,

Thank you for choosing Grand Canyon South Rim Lodges for your upcoming stay. We
are writing with an important update that affects your reservation.

Following significant flash flooding in the inner canyon on August 29, water
infrastructure serving the South Rim has sustained damage. As a result, Grand
Canyon National Park entered Stage 4 water restrictions effective Monday, August
31. Under these restrictions, our lodges are unable to accommodate overnight
guests at Bright Angel, Kachina, Maswik and Thunderbird Lodges as well as El
Tovar Hotel through September 30, 2026. The closure of Phantom Ranch is also
being extended through September 30, 2026.

What this means for you:

• Your lodging reservation and any activities connected with your stay have
been automatically canceled.

• Deposit refunds will be issued within 7 to 10 business days.

• If your reservation includes dates beyond September 30, we will adjust your
arrival date to October 1 for the remainder of your stay.

The Park remains open and day visitors are still welcome to visit the park. Park
services (including food service, activities and gift shops) will be available
with adjustments to assist with water conservation efforts, especially related
to in-park restaurants. For the most up-to-date information our restaurants,

Dank je, ik had in Zuidwesten gekeken niet in Nieuws. Ik kan echter mijn post niet verwijderen...

Ik ga onze planning wat aanpassen want wil niet het risico lopen dat ze tzt besluiten om de sluiting verlengen.

Stage 4 water restrictions zou eerst tot eind september duren, nu is het eind oktober.

Dit is nu verlengd naar 31 oktober. Dus alles tot dan wordt ook gecanceld aan reserveringen.
